Are you ready to install Windows XP Service Pack 3? Go to Microsoft Windows XP SP3 page now.

Service Pack 3

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) build 5512 was released to manufacturing on April 21, 2008 and to the public via both the Microsoft Download Center and Windows Update on May 6, 2008.[29][30][31] It will be automatically pushed out to users in the “early [northern-hemisphere] summer” (i.e. around June-July 2008).[29] However, due to a compatibility issue with Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System, Microsoft recommends that SP3 not be applied to systems using Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System until a hotfix is available.[29][30][32] A feature set overview which details new features available separately as standalone updates to Windows XP, as well as features backported from Windows Vista, such as black hole router detection, Network Access Protection, and Windows Imaging Component has been posted by Microsoft.[33] Microsoft is reporting that 1,174 fixes have been packed into SP3.[34] Internet Explorer 7 is not included as part of SP3.[35]

It seems Windows XP is running smooth with SP2. Would that be any issue after I installed SP3? This might be a million ringgit question LOL. So, as an IT savvy, I will let those white mice test it first and after a month or two, search some forums for people feedback.

so far symantec found that after SP3 installation, a lot dummy registries created, causing the system runs slow…

However, I am still using Win XP SP2. So far so good.
For the time being, I am not planning to switch to Windows Vista.

I still write my VB6 program using Win XP but it is not really support XP style. I still need to use picture box for radio button and checkbox inside a frame or else these controls would have black background. Other controls like DTPicker and tabs still not display in XP style.

Back to the Win9X time, where we didn’t have service pack. Windows 95 has version A, B and C while Win98 has Second Edition.

If anyone wants to run a smooth and secure OS with low requirement, I will suggest them to install Linux or BSD.
