Well, after Proton has launched it’s first MPV, now we are looking forward for Perodua coming MPV. Currently codenamed as Perodua D46T, this MPV is base on Toyota Passo/Daihatsu Boon 7 seaters which means a bigger version of Perodua Myvi in my opinion. Every Perodua’s car is based on Daihatsu or Toyota model. Perodua will modify the car with some changes in design and use alternative local spare parts to make the cost lower and suit Malaysian’s taste. It is like when you try Malaysians Tom Yam. Some people like it, some not. So what is your comment? This perodua MPV will be price more cheaper than Proton Exora. I hope those who bought or made a booking of Exora would not regret if they see this car 😀 Maybe some will think it is worth to wait until November or some may not think so. After I view some of the shots from Paul Tan’s blog, i think the design is not very nice. The rear design looks like Myvi or Viva. The front looks abit like Toyota Yaris or Ractis. The interior is not impressive especially the 3 dials near the gear control and the cushion seats. Come on, I always think that MPV should be a luxurious car but this car has change my perception. Maybe we need to wait the actual car come out then only give comments. Hahah… Personally, I am more prefer 2nd generation Mazda MPV.

Check out Paul Tan’s blog at: http://paultan.org/topics/cars/new-perodua-mpv-2009/ for more updates.

Also some nice pictures from a Myvi Club member’s blog at: http://tallboyz.blogspot.com/2009/05/perodua-mpv-d46t.html

Updated:

This MPV is launched and name Perodua ALZA. It’s slogan is “Versatile As You”. It’s promo theme “Car One Moment, MPV The Next” will sure attract more buyers. It’s design and interior are more elegant than Proton Exora and sure will impact it’s sale. For more details, please check the official website: http://www.perodua.com.my/index.php?section=ourcars&page=alza .

There’s also the newly introduced Nissan Almeira, (i’m not too fond of it) and the Mitsubishi Mirage 2012 (very much like a viva+savvy meegrd together)Currently i’m in the same dillemma, but my budget is capped at 60-70k, which means effectively i’ll get a Myvi 1.3SE/1.5 or a Mitsu Mirage (both auto).the downpayment is a non-issue, but the recurring monthly payment + road tax + fuel expenses + maintenance comes into mind, and therefore I am going with either the two cars I’ve mentioned.Out of the list you’ve mentioned, the cars that i haven’t sat in/ drove were:- ford fiesta- suzuki swift ckd- prevebut as far as all proton models i’ve rode on and drove, i’ll say nay to Proton . Proton Preve is an exception here because i’ve NEVER sat in one nor drove one. Fuel consumption is terrible, despite initially very good F.C. That said, for affordability, i would recommend- Myvi. For tech and swag, (and they are VERY, VERY good cars, as far as i have heard from friends who actually bought them)- Ford Fiesta- Suzuki Swift. But remember Ross. You already got a big bike, and a superbike incoming. You may not need a really fast / big car. You may, if I may suggest to your thought, take a car that has very good FC, comfort (from sun and rain) and you can keep calm despite anything on the road (traffic jams, twists and turns and hills, etc):D have fun buying one!
