People says, a picture paints a thousand words. So does the logo design. I understand this theory since many years. Try look at those big companies logos. There are hidden meanings beneath the design before they choose to use it. Am I right? Did they blindly choose it? Even some Chinese shop like “Chop Seng Kee” (I simply name one, don’t know whether is it exist or not)  would have its logo design with some meanings to show people the logo has S and K alphabets.

I sometimes related the logo with Feng Sui. You can call me superstitious if you want. The “combination” of elements such as shapes, size, position, colours, fonts, symmetric, angle and so on could bring the harmony of a company, school, organization or a person.

Perhaps, Bill Gates or his partners were lucky to choose the Windows logo. Perhaps Google accident to choose it’s name instead of Goggle is a destiny. Perhaps Apple is such a simple fruit. Perhaps Linus Torvalds is naughty and get bitten by a penguin is funny. And so many perhaps and coincidence.

Sometimes people just wonder why MCA is such a loser? Have you ever wonder what are the meaning hiding behind it’s logo? Since the lost of 308 GE, MCA understood that it needs to change. But until today, I don’t see any. Including the logo, it is still the same.

I like to decrypt the meaning behind a logo when I see one when I passing by any sign board. I am base on what I learn in my Art class during primary school. Or to make it simple, I think everyone learn what does our Malaysian flag means? What is the moon and star means, 14 stripes and 4 colours. OK, now you get me. Let’s apply this knowledge to analyse an example, MCA logo.

From what I can see and interpret from the logo, it is very obvious the logo or flag has a 14-point star in yellow with the blue background. Simple. When you see it, it reminds you of our Malaysian flag. Someone may notice it is actually based on Taiwan Kuomintang flag.

From what I see, MCA (logo designer) is some sort of a copy cat. Wait, I don’t see Red colour in the flag. What does Red colour represent? From what I learned from Malaysian flag, it means bold, brave warrior in a battle. Is this why MCA lacking of this element during their speech? How about White? White means purity, good moral mindset and incorruptibility as claimed by DAP flag. And again, MCA logo has no white colour in it’s design.

The logo has been designed for more than 50 years. In my opinion, it has to be changed to reflect the modern life. Talking about the party’s anthem is another story. I think it is the same case. The change doesn’t mean that MCA also need to change it’s party constitution or code of conduct. My opinion is a change means new perspective and paradigm shift to make the party more relevant in the future of political path.
