My firefox is behaving strangely today. The favicons in the Bookmarks toolbar are switching by themselves! I recreated the bookmarks and record a video to show you what I mean. The video is very blur. If you cannot see, I will try to explain. Initially I have my bookmark icons in the following order: friendster, facebook, google. When I start firefox, my laptop seems loading a heavy process (the harddisk LED is blinking so fast). At the end, the order turned out to be facebook, google, google. I hope the bug will be fixed soon or I will report this problem using Launchpad. I think there is a memory leak in Firefox or my Ubuntu is infected by virus?
Update (25 Aug 2010):
Restoring bookmarks is not a solution. Just now I was wondering what is the “Desktop Couch Scratch” folder in the Organize Bookmarks. After google search, i guess the bug is related to Ubuntu One bookmark sychronization. I hope by uncheck the bookmark in Ubuntu One settings can eliminate this issue.
I was wrong again. Unchecking the bookmark for Ubuntu One settings doesn’t help either. So I go to Firefox menu Tools -> Add-ons and click the Disable button for Bindwood.

Updated linux kernel and other updates such as Firefox 3.6.8 but the bug is still persist.
Solution: Backup the bookmark as JSON file on desktop, delete all bookmarks by Ctrl+A and Del then Import back the bookmark. Wait all bookmarks populated and the bug is no longer persist. 🙂
I’ve been getting this same error for the last week or so, as well. Thank you for telling me how to fix it!
Hahah, the solution is just disable Bindwood.
I hope you didn’t spend much time finding out my blog 😉
