This is the MyKad Reader I am using which I bought from Secure Metric Technology. I have developed the program using Visual Basic 6 which I call it MyKad Reader System. It can read and save information such as Name, IC No, Address and Photo into MS Access 2003 database. Printing function is also available.

You need to own the Smart Card Reader device to use this program. A free version is available to download at the following link.

 25 Oct 2008 @ 4:49 PM

The AGM was taken place at Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang. It was started on 17th October until 19th October. The first day was National AGM for MCA Youth and Wanita and continue 2 days for MCA AGM. I took leave that day to attend the meeting and to complete my responsibility as a Youth Central Delegate. That day was like a carnival because it was also the last day for the MCA candidates to “Pull” votes. It was my first time to wear the MCA Youth uniform to attend this function. Lawrence and me went to register at the Administration counter. We received a member card and a bag each. The bag looks quite exclusive and can keep a laptop, but not with the charger… (so disappointing) Inside the bag, kept some booklets and brochures.

The registration are quite hi-tech. I need to scan my member card using a card reader and my photo was shown on the computer screen. Then I need to sign on a writing pad which my signature will be saved in a digital form. I am not sure what was the problem until I need to sign 3 times to get a proper shape of my signature.

That day, most of the speakers gave very good speeches. Dato’ Seri Chan Kwang Choy had given his last speech in the meeting as the Deputy Chairman of MCA. Datuk Liow Tiong Lai who I not very fond of, gave a nice speech that day. Datuk Doktor Wee ka Siong also gave a good speech that day and same to Datuk Chai Kim Seng.

That day I met some members from Seremban which I knew them during a convoy sometime ago. they still remember me. They are campaigning for their leaders. The election progress for MCA Youth run quite smoothly and I manage to cast the ballot in a very minimum time. What was disappointing that day was the food. After the vote, the lunch have finished. This happened maybe beause the caterer didn’t prepare enough food or some people have wasted the food.

At night, there was a dinner. It was the time Ka Fai and me follow Kok Eng campaigning for his father, Datuk Tan Chai Ho as Datuk was competing for the post of a Central Committee. 63 candidates were fighthing for 25 seats and fortunately, Datuk managed to win the competition with 3rd highest votes. We went from table to table to distribute namecards. We told everyone to support Datuk and vote for number 24. It is quite a tough job, meeting more than 2000 people and we were not allow to approach the delegates when the food are served. I was quite frustrated when Kok eng keep asking me whether I did my job. And so where is Lawrence?

On 18th October, Ka Fai asked me to go for the meeting. No more campaign was allowed. Early in the morning, we waited for the arrival of some leaders of the country like Prime Minister and his Deputy, other component parties chairman for the meeting. I salute Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting for his last speech even though many would say he only express the “true feeling” on the last day. What he said that day are all true. Then I pretended as a delegate to sneak inside the hall that day where someone lent me a pass. Hahah, that was a short fun.
