I have given up since last few months to update my laptop running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The Windows Update checking for updates non- stop. The CPU and RAM spike high 100% and more than 4GB respectively. The CPU becomes very hot. Its fan is blowing fast and make a noisy sound. I gave up and disabled the Windows Update Service. Today, I try googling for solution again. After reading on some results, I found a solution. Thanks to the author (Neil Mahaseth) of the blog and the video guide.

The website is: https://www.howisolve.com/checking-for-updates-stuck-solved-windows-7-sp-1-8-1-10/

If you are also facing the same issue as me, try the methods in the blog. Good luck!

Recently, I upgraded my Windows Mobile 6.1 to Windows Mobile 6.5 using a customized ROM. I tried to install a Weather plugin, from somewhere too, but failed. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, it updated but show registry problem so I just delete the files from my device and memory card. After a while, I found the screen is not “poke-able” (unable to use finger or stylus to click, or screen is not responding to touch or whatsoever…).  OMG, I think I need send my device to Asus service centre. I thought to reformat (reflash the ROM) but I afraid the setup fail during the stage of tapping the screen for alignment. However, I did reformat and thanks God, i can tap the screen for alignment. So my device no need to go for service. I think the windows registry or driver was corrupted so the screen was not functioning. So those who face similar problem, don’t afraid to take the risk to reflash your ROM.

Update:

I think the touchscreen problem is not coming from the Weather plugin but from S2P, an iTunes like music player. After I reformated the ROM, I can installed the weather plugin. I think I must install this plugin before installing CStar CE or else it will corrupt the registry.

After the upgrade, the phone cannot view missed calls and the Bluetooth doesn’t work!

I have received two emails recently on response to my tutorial at Planet Source Code.

Please refer to previous post on

Load Images in Crystal Reports dynamically with Access 2000

Email 1:

hi
thank you for crystal report pdf file for load image into report
i need a pdf file or sample code vb for  save and load  blob field into database and report
thank
ali asad

First email was asking me on how to save and load BLOB field into database and display into Crystal Reports. I use a sample project to load BLOB data and then integtrate with my project to load image using crystal reports. Tadaa… it works! but the image dimension to save into the database must be same with the image dimension during the time the report is designed.

Email 2:

Thanks so much for your tutorial (attached).

I have some questions, if you’re willing ……

How to suppress the image if the image is the default?

If the image is suppressed, how to squeeze the section vertically to remove the space that the image would have taken up, but leave any detail that is in the section?

John Collett

The second email was asking me on how to suppress the default image or suppress the empty space if no image is loaded for a particular record. I use some tricks to suppress the section. I also attach some snapshots to show the method graphically.

Please remember to vote for me in planet source code, thanks!
